The Brazilian National Congress building at the end of the Esplanada dos Ministerios (Esplanade of the Ministries). The building was designed by Oscar Neimeyer. It is now the home to both branches of the Brazilian national legislature. The saucer-like structure on the right is the meeting hall for the Chamber of Deputies. The office blocks in the middle are offices for congressmen. The giant flag in the background was erected by the military government. The Congresso Nacional is often presented as an iconic example of the modernist movement in architecture.
